Day 153: Chocolate Milkshakes!

Day 153.

We've started making milkshakes at home. Millie loves being able to just whip them up on the fly. We love that they're way cheaper than buying them!

Here's what you'll need.
Photobucket
Ice cream
Chocolate syrup
Milk

Photobucket
Put two or three scoops of ice cream into your blender.

Photobucket
Squeeze in some chocolate syrup. (This is a pretty loose recipe. :) )

Photobucket
Add milk. I usually use about half as much milk as ice cream. It's a good place to start.

Photobucket
Blend it up!

Photobucket
Mine looked a little thick, so I added a splash of milk.

Photobucket
Divide between glasses. Millie likes to be fancy with hers. Imagine that!

Day 101: Chocolate Eclair Dessert

Day 101.

This is one of my moms favorite desserts. She wanted me to make it for Easter, so I did. I'm SUCH an AMAZING daughter!!! (Right, mom????)

Here's what you'll need.
Photobucket
2 packages graham crackers
3 cups milk
1 box french vanilla instant pudding
1 box cheesecake instant pudding
1 8oz carton CoolWhip, thawed
1 can chocolate icing

Photobucket
Start by laying out a single layer of graham crackers in the bottom of a 9x13 pan.

Photobucket
Place the puddings into a bowl.

Photobucket
Add the milk, and mix well.

Photobucket
Dump in the CoolWhip and stir again.

Photobucket
Spread half the pudding mixture over the bottom layer of crackers.

Photobucket
Add another layer of crackers

Photobucket
Then the rest of the pudding mixture.

Photobucket
Top with a final layer of crackers.

Photobucket
Spread the prepared frosting over the top.

Refrigerate for a couple of hours, at least. I prefer overnight.

Day 76: Green Waffles and Green Milk for St. Patrick's Day

Day 76.

This is what we had for supper tonight, for St. Patrick's Day. The waffles were really easy, because I used the recipe out of the Bisquick cookbook. :)

Here's what you'll need.
Photobucket
2 cups Bisquick
1 1/3 cups milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg
And, if you wanna go crazy, food coloring

Photobucket
Combine the Bisquick, milk, oil and egg in a medium bowl. Stir well.

Photobucket
Now here's the part where we go crazy!!!

Photobucket
Drop in some food coloring.

Photobucket
Give it a good stir. I didn't think it was NEAR green enough.

Photobucket
Just keep adding and stirring until you reach your desired green-ness.
I think I ended up with something like 45 drops of green...

Photobucket
Now. Preheat your waffle maker. I can't tell you exactly how to do that because I don't know what kind you have. It'd be nice if I did, huh?

Photobucket
Once it's heated, pour your batter on the plates and cook as directed.

Photobucket
Ta-da!

Photobucket
Remove to a plate, and repeat the process with all the batter.

Now. For the green milk. I apologize for the blurriness, but kid moves fast!

Photobucket
Put some milk in a glass.

Photobucket
Add in some green food coloring (about 8 drops) then stir!

Photobucket
Drink it up!

Photobucket
And show off your green moustache!

Photobucket
Yum!

Photobucket
And one more bonus shot of a happy Leprechaun hunter!

Day 16: Sweet Tea

Day 16.

Okay. I know this is kind of an easy one, but I think I make some pretty darn good sweet tea. I thought I would post about it, hoping maybe my friend Mandy can make this recipe. :)

Here's what you'll need.
Photobucket
A big, gallon sized pitcher
Sugar
4 Family sized teabags

Photobucket
Bring some water to a boil in a teakettle. If you don't have a kettle, you can boil some water in a saucepan.

Photobucket
If you're making one gallon of tea, add in 1 cup of sugar.

Photobucket
Pour in the boiling water, and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

Photobucket
Drop in the teabags, and smoosh 'em down into the water. With a spoon please, not your hands. The water is hot.

Photobucket
Let the teabags steep for about 5 minutes.

Photobucket
After 5 minutes is up, remove the teabags. Add cold water until you have a full gallon.

Chill in the fridge. Yum. Sweet tea.

Day 6: Sangria

Day 6.

Tonight we had planned to go out for supper with my co-workers for our belated Christmas party. Since we were planning on coming back to our house after we ate, I thought I'd make some "sangria". I put it in quotes because it isn't really a recipe, and I don't think it actually qualifies as sangria.

Really, I wanted to make something because I got my new beverage dispenser from Crate and Barrel yesterday. See? Isn't it cool???
Photobucket

Here's what you'll need.
Photobucket

Arbor Mist Sangria
Fruit

Easy peasy.

You just put it all together!
Photobucket
No, not like that!

Photobucket
Get a knife. And one of those orange peeler thingys if you have one. I got mine from my grandma. I don't even know where you would find one now.

Photobucket
Slice up all your fruit.

Photobucket
And dump in all the sangria in a bottle.

Okay now. I'm not a wine snob. I'm cheap. I admit it. That's why I use this Arbor Mist stuff. It's less than $5 a bottle, and that's good with me. :)

Photobucket
You should end up with something along these lines. It's best if you can let it sit for a while, so the fruit soaks up some of the alcohol.

So there. My cheap-o "sangria". Ahh, starting to feel like summer in here. :)
